requently Asked Questions

We get asked many questions about painting and we are happy to answer them. If you have a question and do not see an answer here please feel free to ask us directly! We would be happy to answer you.

What things will affect the cost?
  • Cutting in (e.g. kitchens which tend to have lots of nooks and starting/stopping points)
  • Ceilings (if you do them after the walls are painted)
  • Baseboards (if you do them after the walls are painted)
  • Faux finishes
What sheen should I use?
As a rule, the more shine you have, the easier it is to wash. For kitchen cupboards, you want semi-gloss, so it's easier to wash.  For walls, you want egg shell or satin.
How long does it take for the paint to dry?
A second coat of paint can be applied 4 hours after the first coat. You will need at least 24 hours to dry the walls completely.
Should I paint the ceiling?
This is a serious question.  It is very trendy right now to go with deep rich colors which will make your ceiling come to life. Choosing to paint the ceiling after the walls are painted can increase the cost by as much as 3 times.
What if I have animals?
Pets really enjoy helping.  The only problem is they are not good helpers. So we ask that they be put in another room or outside during the painting process.
Can you help me do interior decorating?
We are color and painting specialists. We can't necessarily help you pick your style, but we can help you achieve what you want.
Will it smell?
Paint will smell, but with adequate ventilation, the smell dissipates quickly. Two of the paint lines we use offer low odor and no odor options.
How are multiple rooms handled?
Multiple rooms can be handled simultaneously which saves time.  But we will work with you to create a plan that works for you.
How long is it going to take?
As a rule, A 9'x15' room will take two days depending on the amount of work to be done.
What about my window treatments and other things on the walls?
We handle them all. See What to Expect from Start to Finish to see what we do for you.
